Minimum and Maximum Durations for a Single Activity

Minimum and Maximum Durations for a Single Activity
Activities are carried out in accordance with the minimum and maximum periods determined by the European Commission.
In study mobility, the minimum duration is 2 full months or 1 trimester, and the maximum duration is 12 full months. If the trimester period at the higher education institution where the student will undertake study mobility is less than 60 days, this must be indicated in the explanation section when entering the information into the Beneficiary Module (BM).
In traineeship mobility, the minimum duration is 2 full months, and the maximum duration is 12 full months.
In blended mobility, a mandatory virtual component must always be included as a complementary part of the blended mobility. There are two different blended mobility scenarios consisting of different physical mobility durations:
Long-term blended mobility abroad – blended mobility in which the physical mobility abroad lasts at least 2 months and is complemented by virtual learning before or after the mobility (for students in study or traineeship mobility).
Short-term blended mobility abroad – blended mobility in which the physical mobility abroad lasts a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days, complemented by virtual learning before or after the mobility (for students in study or traineeship mobility, or for staff mobility where the physical mobility lasts between 1–60 days).
Short-term student mobility is primarily intended for students who cannot participate in long-term physical mobility. It can be included within a Blended Intensive Program or an alternative short program. At least 3 ECTS credits must be awarded for blended mobility (virtual + physical).
Doctoral mobility has a minimum duration of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days for short-term physical mobility. For long-term doctoral mobility, the minimum duration is 2 months and the maximum is 12 months. Long-term doctoral mobility may also include a complementary traineeship program and can be carried out as blended mobility.
The activity duration must be completed without interruption. In study mobility, semester breaks and public holidays are not considered interruptions.
In traineeship mobility, the activity may be interrupted if the host organization is closed due to holidays. Grant payments are made for the period when the organization is closed. To ensure the minimum activity duration, the planned closure dates of the organization must be checked in advance, and it must be confirmed that the minimum duration is still met after excluding the holiday period. Weekend days are not considered as holidays to be deducted from the activity duration.
In the event of an interruption of the activity due to force majeure\*, provided that the force majeure can be documented, activities in which the minimum duration cannot be completed are accepted, and a grant is provided corresponding to the period completed. Before an event or situation is considered as force majeure, the Center must be contacted.
If students return before completing the minimum duration for reasons other than force majeure, the activity is considered invalid and no grant is paid.
If deemed appropriate by both the sending and hosting higher education institutions, mobility can also take place in the fall semester following the spring semester in study mobility, provided it ends before the project end date. This mobility is recorded as a single activity in the Beneficiary Module (BM), and no grant is paid for gaps between the spring and fall semesters.

* “Force majeure” means any exceptional situation or event beyond the control of the parties that prevents either party from fulfilling any obligation under the contract; it must not result from the fault or negligence of the parties, their subcontractors, affiliates, or any third parties involved in implementation, and must be unavoidable and unforeseeable despite all due care and attention. Failure to provide a service, defects in equipment or materials, or their untimely availability cannot be claimed as force majeure, provided these do not arise directly from a force majeure event, labor disputes, strikes, or financial difficulties.
